Born in New Brighton, across the river from Liverpool, Pete listened to Glenn Miller; Pink Floyd; Steve Hillage and Ravi Shanka as a youth. Grandson of Percy Phillips, the man who first recorded The Quarry Men in his Liverpool studio in 1958, Pete played drums in a band when he was 13. (With Bob Staunch on bass). Pete developed a love of world music and percussion and travelled widely abroad before moving to South London in 1990 and getting into the music scene where he is recording, performing and teaching. Pete has also studied drums and drumming with Master Drummers Baluji Shrivastav and Henri Gaubi. |
